I cant seem to catch up on my sleep no matter how hard I try. Like two nights ago. I planned to go to bed around 11 pm. That's really early for me! I work from 6 am to 6 pm. My days are long and the nights longer. After work I have to clean up the mess from the day, make dinner for my son, give him a bath, and get him to bed. And somewhere in there I have to find time to play and spend time with him. And after I get him in bed for the night I have to clean up the mess from dinner and do the dishes and a bunch of other things. So my wind down time doesn't usually start until about 11. Well, for the past month or so I have not been getting to bed until about 2 am every morning, then getting up at 6 to start work. And on the weekends (when my husband is considerate enough to let me sleep in which isn't often) the kids are usually very loud and it is impossible to sleep. So for the past month I have been getting about 4 hours of sleep a night. That's enough to make anyone cranky! So I tried to go to bed early Wed. night, but guess what? Wouldn't you know that something would happen to keep me up! The carpet store about three buildings down and on the opposite side of the street from my house went up in flames. The carpet store and the thrift store right next to it are nothing but empty shells of the buildings that used to be there. The cosmetology school on the other side of it and the apartment building behind it suffered a lot of water and smoke damage. The fire was so big I was able to watch the whole thing out of my bedroom window. I don't know about anyone else, but that's a little too close to home for me. And being the paranoid ninny that I am, there was no way I was going to be able to sleep until the fire was under control. Well that didn't happen until around 3 am. And again I was up at 6 for work. And yesterday I had the pleasure of having to shampoo the carpets in my house because my loving son, who is 2 and mostly potty trained, decided to take his pants off and poop in the middle of my hallway and one of the other kids I take care of stepped in it and smeared it everywhere. So guess what I was doing all night? Lucky me. And tonight isn't looking to promising either. I get to finish repainting the walls in the hallway that my son and stepdaughter decided would make the perfect coloring books! I just love being a mom!
